Export documents in LibreOffice Impress and Draw

Documents created in LibreOffice Impress and Draw can be exported in various popular formats that have been around for decades. Like in Writer and Calc, exporting is done through the Export dialog. Impress and Draw’s Export dialog has most of the formats that are in the Export dialog in Writer and Calc. It also has formats unavailable to these two applications.

  1. Click the File menu
  2. Click the Export item in the menu

  1. Click the arrow next to the Save icon in the Standard toolbar.
  2. Click the Export item in the list

Exporting to a format

  1. Click the drop-down menu and select the desired format. The formats are described below.
  2. If you want to change the name of the document, type a new name in the textbox with the name of the original document.
  3. Click the folder you want to export the document to by using the folders in the left column and the middle.

Macromedia Flash (SWF)

The Macromedia Flash format is an older format that was created by Macromedia and eventually acquired by Adobe. Older Websites use the technology to run animations of different kinds. Presentations with animations can be converted to Flash and Web pages can display them.

Flash is not available as a choice in this menu in LibreOffice 7 and later. Version 6.4 still has it in the list.

BMP Windows Bitmap

Windows Bitmap or BMP is a two-dimensional image format. It is for raster graphics, and the vector-graphics projects created by Draw can be converted to it.

Enhanced Metafile or EMF is a device independent format originally created for Windows. It is an improvement over Windows Metafile or WMF.

Encapsulated PostScript or EPS is a format for documents that can be rendered by just about any graphics program and any PostScript printer will print the file identically.

GIF Graphics Interchange Format

Graphics Interchange Format or GIF is great for projects created in Draw, and can be used to create animations.It also can be used for images. Unlike jpeg it is a lossless format.information from the original image or graphic will not be removed when the new document is created.
